Our Activities

For the past 5 years, JEAD Foundation has been visiting different parts of the Eastern and Greater Accra Regions to screen people and create awareness about breast cancer.

A team of doctors, nurses and other paramedics from the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua, are sent to chosen areas, mainly rural, for screening, health education and distribution of educative materials containing the procedure for self-breast examination

A screening session entails a presentation by a doctor on breast diseases, followed by breast examination by doctors. Patrons who are found to have any breast pathologies are given investigations to have done and these are either followed up at the surgical department of the Eastern Regional Hospital or referred to other appropriate hospital. Demographic data of the ill patrons are documented in order to follow up and offer support.

An extract from our calendar of screening events, taken from September 2011 till September 2013 is provided below to give you a snapshot of our activities over the two-year period.
